I have used the 50% off odean tickes a few times now. A mate of mine is on the Orange network, and he says he can also get o2 priority moments from Oraneg.

Can someone tell me how that works? I thought it was o2 exclusive

Another fantastic show, full of all the tunes you'd expect: A little Respect, Ship of Fools, Love to hate you etc. I was really pleased that they sung Fingers and Thumbs which is one of my all time favourites and hardly ever played. There were lots of oldies like Heavenly action, Push me Shove me and Knocking on your door! And a new song Save Me, which sounded really good!

Supporting them was Sophie Ellis Bextor, singing some great tracks incuding Murder on the Dance floor.

And the weather held. All in all it was a fantastic night

For L.A. Noire. It was such a fantastic game, a deep and involving story with slow and cerebral game play (not the standard jump/shoot/hide/shoot bland gameplay)

I enjoyed the homicide cases! If there were more of those, that would be fun to play. And I recognised some (semi) famous faces in the acting too!

Looking forward to a sequel.... I hope

--The Enterprise runs into a mysterious energy field of a type that it has encountered several times before.

--The Enterprise goes to check up on a remote outpost of scientists, who are all perfectly all right.

--The Enterprise comes across a Garden-of-Eden-like planet called Paradise, where everyone is happy all the time. However, everything is soon revealed to be exactly as it seems.

--The crew of the Enterprise are struck by a strange alien plague, for which the cure is found in the well-stocked sick-bay.

--A power surge on the Bridge is rapidly and correctly diagnosed as a faulty capacitor by the highly-trained and competent engineering staff.

--A power surge on the Bridge is fails to electrocute the user of a computer panel, due to a highly sophisticated 24th century surge protection feature called a 'fuse'.

--The Enterprise ferries an alien VIP from one place to another without serious incident.

--The Enterprise is captured by a vastly superior alien intelligence which does not put them on trial.

--The Enterprise separates as soon as there is any danger.

--The Enterprise is captured by a vastly inferior alien intelligence which they easily pacify by offering it some sweeties.

--The Enterprise is involved in a bizarre time-warp phenomenon, which is in some way unconnected with the 20th century. [note: this one actually happens in First Contact, since that was the 21st century. Also visited was the nineteenth century, when Mark Twain found himself beamed to the Enterprise, and was asked to refrain from smoking.]

--Somebody takes out a shuttle and it doesn't explode or crash.

--A major Starfleet emergency breaks out near the Enterprise, but fortunately some other ships in the area are able to deal with it to everyone's satisfaction.

--The shields on the Enterprise stay up during a battle.

--The Enterprise visits the Klingon Home World on a bright, sunny, day.

--An attempt at undermining the Klingon-Federation alliance is discovered without anyone noting that such an attempt, if successful, "would represent a fundamental shift of power throughout the quadrant."

--A major character spends the entire episode in the Holodeck without a single malfunction trapping him/her there.

--Picard walks up to the replicator and says, "Coke on ice."

--Kirk falls in love with a woman who, unfortunately, can't take the time off from her career. She leaves him in the end.

--Scotty assures the captain that repairs will be possible, but they turn out to be against the laws of physics.

--A well-equipped, large landing party is well-equipped with security officers, and none of them die.

--Mr. Spock is among the victims of a strange alien threat, but because of his Vulcan metabolism, he succumbs more quickly.

--The unique interplay of abilities and personality traits of the command crew make them unable to solve a crisis.

--A minor repair on the lower decks of the ship is repaired by a crew of well-trained junior engineers, instead of a member of the bridge crew, or the chief engineer, or (gasp) W______ C_______r.

--Mr. Worf demonstrates the Klingon Flower Ritual.

--Mr. Data links his brain directly to the ship's computer, reads and sends data, and then routinely breaks the connection without mishap.

--I find out what happened to Mr. Worf's (quite understandable) feelings for Counselor Troi.

--A member of the crew of the original series makes an appearance without maudlin references to and jokes from the original series and the films.

I recently bought my OH a new lap top (about 3 months ago), so she can talk to her brother
But over the past few days she has been getting strange phone calls from India. (As if from one of those call centres). And it has been very difficult to understand exactly what they are trying to say.
But they have phoned several times and have started to worry her. They never really say who they are calling from; i spoke to one man today who mentioned something but i didnt catch who. He kept trying to tell me that he wasnt selling something and that it is because he is monitoring the internet and has noticed that the web pages we are looking at (from my oh's new computer) are doing something maybe like being attacked by a virus. And then he started saying something like. "I need yuou to go to your computer and do the following things..."
I told him that there was no way I was going to follow instructions from a stranger on the phone.

Has this happened to anyone? Does anyone know what it could mean?

However, this is supposed to be the shortest term, but i have noticed it is a long time until easter. Is Easter really nearl at the end of April? I can't believe it's so late! There was me thinking that no sooner did I go back than it will be half term, but it is seven weeks away, and then a further 7 weeks till easter holiday. And even Easter is right at the end of the easter holiday. WoW!

But back to this week. Work tomorrow
My OH's brother was in need of a new cooker. Sainsburys had a great deal on- if you buy a cooker they will deliver it, connect it and have the old one taken away (all for a fee of course)
On the 8th of December we (as a christmas present) bought this cooker with the service for him.
On the 18th of december it was delivered (delayed due to bad weather).... however the cooker could not be connected because the electrician was not able to get to work that day due to the bad weather. So my OH's brother had a cooker he couldnt use whilst he couldnt use his old cooker.
But we were promised that it would get connected during the week. However we got a phone call on the 22nd saying "We cant get the van up the roads"
"what do you need a van for?"
"Because we have a cooker to deliver"
"No. The cooker is already there. We just want it connected." They were at the bottom of the road. The electrician could have walked up and connected the cooker that was there, instead he couldnt be arsed and drove away. So he had no Cooker for Christmas!
Annoyed, we booked another time for it to be connected. On the 30th (today).
We even phoned this morning to make sure it was happening. "Oh yes. Its on the books for it to happen today"

Guess what. due to a 'breakdown of communication' it was never on the books for it to happen today, and now he is going to have to wait until monday for it to be connected. So thats all of christmas and new year without a cooker.

This is the worst service we have ever had. And no-one seems to care about the customer.

Who has a number for watchdog?!?!

Or was that just me?

When I tweeted this earlier it may have come across as if I had eaten a box of maltesers for breakfast This is not the case (although a case of maltesers would be a fantastic christmas gift). I was merely posing the question as to whether I should. But whilst consulting my moral compass, which was pointing in the direction of 'fat pig' (which is slightly west of 'Get off your arse and do something useful'), it occurred to me that it probably wasn;t so far removed from Coco-pops, just with added rich tea biscuits!
But I didn't have them. No! I decided not to go for the unhealthy breakfast...instead I had a cheese and onion pasty and chips.

It's Christmas eve and tomorrow it's the 31st sunday after pentecost eve. Later today we will be going to the church for the carol service. So I hope you all have a good day

Oh... my moral compass just swithced to 'Off to church once a year will not get you through the pearly gates'. I think i may switch my compass off, it can be awfully self-righteous!

This time it was for Uncharted 2! It is a fantastic game. Just as good as the first (which i also Plat'd) I wasn't sure I was going to get this one, as it included some online trophies (which i am NOT good at) But there were only 2, and you only had to play one of each game- you didnt need to win, which was a real blessing!

I think games are going to get harder to Platinum in the future because of the popularity of online gaming. Never mind. I'm happy with my dirty dozen

A blogger from years ago who I have never had the heart to delete from my friends list.
He was my first ever blog friend back in 2005. Such a kind, witty and warm wee chappie and every year at this time I think about him. Because today is his birthday. Every year I send him a message just in case he receives it and to let him know that his blog pals are still here.

So, if by some christmas miracle you are passing this way Colin. This one is for you

We have bought LOADS of christmas food. I think we have singlehandedly helped the british economy (Its OK- no need to thank us). This also includes the food for Christmas day and Boxing day. Our chrissy dinner is the same every year (we are creatures of habit) salmon and prawns to start. Roast Lamb with all the trimmings and trifle for pudding.

On Boxing day we usually go to my mums where there is a big family dinner (Roast Lamb again) We have only ever missed it ince, and that was when it snowed very badly here on the south coast but not anywhere else. When we phoned to say we couldnt get there, my family thought I was lying and presumed I was trying to get out of going. Hmmmm...... nice that they have faith in me.

And now this year the weather is being very unpredictable, and my mum has been panicking that we might not be able to go down again. "It's down to the weather" I say "Either we can or we can't. But we probably won't know until nearer the time" Now my mum thinks I don't want to go! Families are wondeful(ly neaurotic) things. Lol.

 Comments

December the 21st

It's Christmas Party Season, so this one is for all of you out there looking for a great Atmosphere (or a look at what not to wear from the eighties)

But I'll give it a go!

Today on the news the word Infrastructure was used at least five times. I am getting annoyed with it. Even my OH used it today.
"Infrastucture my arse" I said
"Well" she replied "There ought to be some kind of structure there" The cheek lol

I would have replied with a witty comeback, but I don't have the witty infrastructure in place!

Enjoy

Twas the month after Christmas and all through the house
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.

The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste.
All the holiday parties had gone to my waist.

When I got on the scales there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber).

I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared;
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared,

The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese
And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please."

As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt --

I said to myself, as I only can
"You can't spend a winter disguised as a man!"

So--away with the last of the sour cream dip,
Get rid of the fruitcake, every cracker and chip

Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
Till all the additional ounces have vanished.

I won't have a cookie--not even a lick.
I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.

I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie,
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.

I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore --
But isn't that what January is for?

Unable to giggle, no longer a riot.
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!

Gordon Brown was reported to say the following comment
'I'm not really interested in the minutiae and gossip'. when commenting on Tony Blairs memoirs, but what may not have been recorded was the rest of Gordon's comments, which i believe went as follows...

'But when it comes to a source of information and entertainment I look no further than the Daily Muse. Where else can I get insights into the duck infestation in heaven and the effects of stepping on one, which according to Mrs Brown explains how she ended up with me, then theres the insight into the relationship between John Major and Edwina Currie (although their names were removed for security reasons, I can tell it's them) plus Ann Widdecombes worries about Strictly Come Dancing. I always knew she was an old fruit!

Plus theres reaction from the local dogs when they find they are on the shortlist for David Blunketts new guide dog! Ah yes. The Daily Muse is more revealing than leaving your microphone on after meeting <del>bigotted women</del> the public. Not that that would ever happen to me!'

Hope you like my little Secret Santa Blog Post Barmac.

I found this page on geeks.co.uk which had quite an interesting analysis on the current race.

For all of those out there who haven’t made up your minds yet, if you love the song When We Collide, please download the original (and much much better) Biffy Clyro version. If you just love Matt, which I am sure many of you ladies out there do, then buy his single, but if you just want to de-rail the runaway freight train that is the X-Factor then download Rihanna, as she is the only artist who now has a realistic chance.

Blah, Blah Blah snow!
