  • Creature feature... update

Well my OH is home and I thought it was time to try and dig out the so called rat from the unit. Clutching a pair of sticks, and utilising all of my chopstick skill, I had to work the dead body out of the grating at the back of the unit. but it got caught on something... it thought it might have been the tail which was curled round like one of those plastic monkey games from my childhood. eventually i yanked it out, and found out what it was caught on...... another dead mouse. (At this stage I think we decided they were mice and not rats. This first body was , more decayed than this second one. So I pulled the second one out which was harded because it was bigger then the first and didnt fit through the hole easily. And guess what happened then... two more dead mouse bodies fell out! 8|

THere were four mice in there! All in different states of decay. I think they climb in the grate at the top and fall down inside and then can't get back out. :( Poor things

  • A warning about air conditioning units... Rats!

A few nights ago we decided to bring in the portable air conditioning unit from the garage... seeing as the weather is quite warm now. And last night we decided to turn it on.

And as I did, I heard a screeech and rattle, and a crunch, and all sorts of shit came flying out (onto the bed).
"That didnt sound healthy" my OH said understatingly.
"I think we might have just killed something" I replied. So we pulled it out back into the garden over night.

I have just now takne the back off and turned it on again. More rattles and more shit flew out .. along witha few pieces of fur!

I had to turn it upside down to find out what the blockage is.... and gues what popped out.... a rat in a nest! Nice! It's very dead now!

EDIT: I have just chatted with my OH and this is her worry... Tell me if there is anything to worry about here (advice welcome)

If the unit has been in our bedroom for a few days.... and there was a rats nest in the unit..... what are the chances the rats would come out and nest in the bedroom somewhere?
