My OH and I went round a friends hose for coffee this morning, and she told us a little story about coffee that we couldn't believe....
She went to the shop (a local costcutter I think it was) because she needed coffee. Apparently some of her friends were coming round- hold on, that'd be us!
Anyway, she checked the shelves. She found tea, tea bags, hot chocolate and herbal teas. All that stuff! But there was no coffee! This seemed unusual so she went to the checkout woman and asked "Excuse me, I can't seem to find any coffee on the shelves. Do you have any coffee?"
"Yes. It's here behind the counter with the cigarettes. We're not allowed to put it on the shelves"
This sounded bizarre so she asked why
"It's because of the addictive nature of coffee, we're not allowed to have it on the shelves. It's in case any of the locals steal it for a quick fix of caffeine"
Can you believe that? That is bizarre. Apparently the chavs break in and steal coffee granules to chew, to feed their cravings!
And yet, choclate and tea is still on the shelves!
I wonder where they keep the Decaf?
