The overly detailed journey of furniture

by cj592 @ 2008-05-07 - 19:19:10

I bought something on ebay and I'm not that happy. It is a piece of furniture. It was specifically chosen by my OH for her birthday. The eBay ad said "In store- ready for delivery" So I bought it Now!
Today I got an email.... "Sorry the item is not available at the moment, but we are due to have a delivery in 2-3 weeks" And that annoyed me. If they didn't have it, they shouldn't have sold it.
So I phoned them. The guy I spoke to, as nice as he was, was a little bit long winded. His attention to detail was a bit too much. "Well, I am nervous about guaranteeing the delivery time. It is being shipped in you see. And the thing about ships is.... it is under the influence of the weather. There could be bad weather at the docking port. Or there could be bad weather on the departing port, or there could be bad weather on the journey." I didn't need to know that! All I wanted to know is when would it be due. I also wanted to know if I would be guaranteed one when they came in. And he response was this...... "Hold on, I have my log book right in front of me. Well. not exactly in front of me, it is slightly to the right" Why the hell would I need to know the exact position of the log book on his desk. "Well, we get shipments regularly. And our warehouses get full quickly. I have two warehouses, and I have just had the floors done." Really? That is such a relief! It is nice to know that, assuming the item makes it through the bad weather in either port or journey crossing, and assuming that my name is logged in the book which is slightly to the right of his sitting position, that it would be safe in a warehouse with brand new floors!
My God!
At least I know that my name is in the log book
..
.. A book, that is apparently one and a half inches thick!
I think that guy was one and a half inches thick!
