Pretentious chips and Banjo surprise

by cj592 @ 2008-01-19 - 22:26:33

Last night I went out with my mate for dinner and a drink. We went to one of our locals which is now under new management. In fact it has changed hands several times over the past few years. When we got there, there was only two other people in the bar! It was dead! The menu was sparse.... there was no Lamb on it! I always have lamb when I go out! So I had to make do with Steak and Ale pie- which in it's defense was very nice- and there was a nice portion of chips with it, which is more than could be said for my friend, who ordered steak and chips- and the chips that he had were those poncy pretentious 'Jamie Oliver' Nouveau Cuisine style chips where you only get nine of them and they are stacked like chunky Jenga Blocks!
Through the evening we were becoming increasingly aware of some Banjo music! "That sounds like live music" I thought "Surely it has to be. After all, no-one is actually going to choose to play this as a CD" And sure enough, there was a folk band! And the pub had filled out slightly. In the end it turned out to be not such a bad night :)
