42 inches of pleasure and a bunny quoting shakespeare

by cj592 @ 2007-07-25 - 15:37:33

Today at a glance

Pastly
We have had our new plasma TV delivered. It's big- a Panasonic 42"! However it keeps warning us not to have things too bright or leave the picture on pause for too long in case it burns the screen. 8|. I am lookin forward to viewing some HD films (we still have the free Bluray version of Casino Royale to see) And I can use the PS3 on it.
I went into town to get my haircut. It has been unmanageably long of late, it's grown to at least 4cm in length! Luckily the barbers wasn't busy so I got done straight away. But I did feel guilty as, when I walked into town, I walked past my old hairdresser (Herr Cutting) who was standing outside his shop looking lonely. He said hello to me and I sheepishly said hello back. I couldn't hide the fact that I had just got my hair cut somewhere else I had hair all over my face. I felt like such a splitter!!
I went to Gamestation to see if I could find a HD cable for the playstation. The guy behind the counter said "which one" "Is there more than one type?" "Yes, there are two" And I didn't know which one I needed. Why don't they make things easy for you?!?. I had to phone my OH to see if the new TV had a certain type of connection- Which is a bit like asking a Bunny to quote Shakespeare (To be or not to be, that is the Bunny- another one for you Gray!) I eventually chose one which I think is right.
Back home, my OH and I had a nice dinner for lunch, so we don't have to worry about having a picnic on the train again- you can have too much of a good thing!

Presently
MY OH is watching something about auctions involving old leather face Dickenson himself. )-o

futurely
Back in to London for our second night of theatrical entertainment. But tonight it is not Maria we are visiting, but Joseph! I think I shall wear my coat- it has many colours you know :)

Hope everyone else is having a nice day

Let me take you by the hand and lead you through the London Paper

by cj592 @ 2007-07-25 - 14:51:03

Last night, on the way home, I was browsing through one of those free Papers you get handed at stations. Now, there wasn't much news in them (as I think Ros has already mentioned) but there were a few things that I wanted to comment on.

Firstly, there was an article about the fact that OFCOM are thinking of ways to protect the public from phone-in scams. "IT is proposing that TV and Radio broadcasters are responsible for protecting consumers and has put forward three options" I can just imagine how that conversation went
OFCOM official "Here are the three options to protect consumers. If you like option A, phone 0878 555 2324........" I can see it happening! :D

Secondly there was a small item about Jordan and Peter's new baby. THe have named their new daughter Princess Tiaamii, and is a merger of Peter's mother THea and Jordan's mother Amy. Jordan said "It was Peter's idea". Well, you can only blame yourself love, after all this was the guy that had a single called Insania which was a combination of Insane and Mania!!!! I bet she's glad they didn't have a boy, as their fathers names, Stanley and Oliver, will combine to make Stand And Deliver!

And lastly, for animal fans, a rare event has occurred. Something which hasn't happened in 175 years. The Great Bustard has laid it's first egg..........
....... Nobody knows who the father is though.

And that's the news :)

Train picnics, weeping women and the flat end of a twix

by cj592 @ 2007-07-25 - 10:11:17

Well, the picnic on the train was a rip-roaring success! My chicken and cranberry sandwiches were the talk of carriage 6, isle 2 seats 34 to 37. And there was music! But that wasn't my doing. There was some knob down the carriage who had a stereo, blaring it full blast, until some old guy got up and asked them to turn it down. It was all hip hop crap anyway.

The walk through London was lovely too because the weather was so nice. We walked up through Leicester Square (Where we saw a huge tour bus with 'Maria Carey' written on the side and a huge crowd hanging around), up Picadilly and up through Carnaby Street (Which has changed a lot since the sleezy days of the Eighties)

The Sound of Music was excellent. The music fair brought a tear to the eye, especially when Captain Von Trapp started singing 'The Sound of Music' and all the kids hugged him (aaaah). The woman next to me was sobbing all the way through the thing. She kept apologising, but she didn't need to! The Von Trapp Children were excellent. The way Leisl acted so aloof and 'teenager'-ish towards Maria was very good, as was Brigitta's honest approach to everything. "Anything... That's one word, three notes!" Very good!!! But why is it that whenever you see Nazis on stage, they are always camp? Perhaps it's the upshot of the success of 'The Producers' :DD. The Sound of Music, may come across as a bit of a cheesy musical, but it always surprises me how dark it actually is- especially bear the end. The Nazi occupation of Austria was a distressing time, and it's hard to remember that this was actually based on a true story of a family that left their home to escape over the mountains to free Switzerland.

On the way home we decided to buy some food (which obviously was nowhere near as nice as the sandwiches I had made). I had a curry pasty and a twix. My OH also bought herself a twix and a pasta salad thing in a bowl. However she had a little accident whilst getting into the train, and she dropped her spoon. So she had to improvise a spoon. It was quite amusing watching her scoop her pasta salad up with the flat end of a twix finger.

Still a good night was had by all.
