Well last night I went to the dance class. I started off doing the beginners class again (because I enjoyed it) which is follwed by the intermediate class.
And goes who turned up....... MEN! Yes for some reason this set of classes had a 50/50 split of men and women- which made a change from the last lot.
And they were a complete set of new faces... except for one very familiar leapord skinned, fake tanned and false nailed individual. Oh yes! The tiger lady was back!
The beginners class went smoothly, and even though I knew the moves, I still picked up a few tips just from incidental comments, like how to hold hands and stand properly- so it was worth while.
Before the intermediate class there was opportunity for some freestyle dancing. I normally sit ou of this because I am quite shy about asking strangers to dance, but guess who wasn't shy... Yes, the tiger lady! Now I felt so unsure, as she took my hand and she led me to the dance floor (no wait. that's careless whisper). But she was impressed by the moves I remembered. There, I knew she was after me for my mind!
Then the intermediate class started- and man was that totally different to the beginners. It was high impact and intense! It was about learning a set- lots of twists and turns and throwing women this way and that way with arms fliying all over the place, which did lead to some embarrassing moments when my hands accidentally hit a few boobs!
(it was accidental honest!) I think at some point we hit the wall (not in the 'London Marathon' way, but actually because we were too close to the wall). And even though we were still passing our partners on, there was one person I seemed to end up with a lot.... yes. The Tiger lady. And now she was beginning to irritate me. Because at one point when the instructor was trying to decide what moves to put together, tiger lady decided to use the inactive moment to moan and whinge about the style of teaching. And man did she bitch the poor guy. And to be honest I totally switched off, because I am not interested in bitching, I was there to learn and enjoy. I wanted to find the volume switch on her and turn it off. So I did the only thing I could do, started nodding and saying 'yes' at the appropriate moments but totally ignored what she was moaning about. Silly Cah!
But I totally enjoyed the class even though it was intense. I was told I did well, which is always nice to hear. I was even told that I might be good enough to join the 'team'. Woohoo!
Maybe I'll go again next week.
