The "sport" of extreme eating is coming to the UK - with competitors set to battle it out to see who can devour the most mince pies.

Speed eating is a major phenomenon in the USA, with some of the bigger events televised on sports channels and winners earning thousands of dollars in prize money.
Whole channels? Perhaps Sky could have an 'extreme eating channel'
One of the biggest names in the sport, Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas is set to compete for the £1,000 prize at the mince pie eating competition, which will be held at Wookey Hole Caves in Somerset.
The problem is though, some of those cave entrances are quite small. You might get in, but may not be able to get out again ![]()
But Dr Colin Waine, chair of the National Obesity Forum, said the event gives out the wrong message. He said: "It's glorifying gluttony. It's not going to do anybody the slightest bit of good. It gives eating the wrong sort of publicity and sends the wrong message to impressionable people.
But I don't want to eat the wrong sort of publicity, I want to eat mince pies
