Well it’s Monday and it’s mid-day. Right now we are waiting for the Pasties to cook so I thought I would make a quick entry.
I am a bit annoyed at the moment. We didn’t go away today, seeing as the weather was going to be ‘rain’ all week. And today the weather is lovely. We could have been away and had a sun/rain day.
Anyway, back to today. We got up quite early because I wanted to get my hair cut and I remember how busy it got last time when I went to the barbers, and that was dead on opening time. I can’t imagine how busy a half term would be. So we got there just after 9am this morning. From a distance it looked quite quiet, and as we approached I got quite excited- there was no-one waiting! And then I saw the sign on the door. Closed! Damn! I would either have to find somewhere else or go the week with silly hair. Well I wasn’t going to go around with silly hair, and I didn’t want to visit my old Barber (Herr Kutting) as he had given me a dirty look when I bumped into him in Sainsbury’s. So there was nothing else I could do but try a new Barber, one that had recently opened. The Salon itself looked clean and nice, and there was no-one waiting, so I got done really quickly. He didn’t do a bad job, although I did start to worry when he got his cut-throat out- but he actually did a good job. And then he did something that I have never had done before… he shaved my ears! So there I was, sitting n the chair whilst he was sunning his razor over my lugs! It was quite funny.
Later on I decided to go to Woolworths. I needed to get a few bits and pieces; some superglue and some shoe laces. Well I found the superglue, but I couldn’t find the laces. So I approached one of the assistants, I didn’t go for one of the spotty youth type ones as they probably wouldn’t be able to help me; they would only shrug and say “Dunno”. So I approached an elderly woman, she was bound to help, elderly shop assistants are always helpful. Boy, was I wrong. She looked at me as if I was a piece of gum stuck on her shoe and grunted “upstairs”. I thanked her for her kindness and went upstairs in the search for Shoelaces. Whilst upstairs I spotted the scary Woolworths woman spying on me from one of the isles. What was she doing? Trying to make sure that I was actually looking for laces? And if she was going to come up, why didn’t she just show me where they were?
Eventually, I found the laces and paid for them at the till. Then I tried to leave. On the way out, I was admiring some stuff on display and I accidentally knocked over a couple of boxes from a trolley. Ooops I said and picked them up and placed them back on the trolley for the assistant to continue stacking. But guess who was doing the stacking… Yes! The scary Woolworths woman! She gave me the meanest stare ever “Er…sorry”, I said” I was just admiring the wonderful display work you were doing”. She rolled her eyes and I legged it!
Anyway must go soon, my pasties are ready.
