October: Great for Teachers, nuts and mouldy cheese

by cj592 @ 2006-10-01 - 21:33:49

Well October is now upon us, and as anew month dawns, it is time to look at what special days are heading our way this month

Firstly, and quite aptly, October is Coputer learning month. Not bad for an IT teacher. It is also National Popcorn Popping month

AS for the individual days

October
1st is the start of Yom Kippur, which I believe is nothing to do with fish
2nd is nme your car day. I am going to name mine. "Bloody thing why do you keep stalling when its wet"
3rd is Captain Kangaroo day. A day to celebrate how a marsupial managed to rise to quite a high rank in the military.
5th is National Teacher day. At bloody last!
9th is Mouldy Cheese day. It is also the Count from Sesame Street's birthday
12th is Farmers day. We can get to say Oo- ar al ot! :)
13th. Margaret Thatchers Birthday. It is also Friday the thirteenth. Coincidence?
15th is Mother in Law's day. I am planning to be out
21st is the sweetest day.
22nd is National Nut Day.
24th United nations day
25th is National denim day. AKA dress up as an eightees throwback day :)
28th Plush animal lovers day. I dont want to ask too deeply about that one
31st Halloween.

So plenty to look forward to :)

Spending the day potty training and shmoozing with the headmaster

by cj592 @ 2006-10-01 - 18:30:02

Where does the day go?

I woke up this morning and I had the whole day ahead of me. I thought to myself, after having a bit of a lie in, that I me even get some work done.
..
..And then the day just flew by.

It really is my own fault though. Because I put in the Sims 2 at about 11am, and then I didnt emerge until my OH arrived home at 4pm. It is amazing just how immersive that game can get. I had spent ages raising my little baby into a toddler- potty training her and then shmoozing with the Headmaster to get her ino private school. Whilst trying to juggle my own need for Food, company and Toilet. It really is like real life- except that it is not as easy to get promotion in real life.

And when my OH came home, we decided to watch a DVD. Confetti! A great film, full of some great british talent. Although my OH did blush at some of the nudity.

And now it is 6:30 and I didn't do any of that extra work. I am so glad that I did the important stuff yesterday.

Everyone having a good evening?

Gareth Gates sympathy vote, The Ginger one from Girls Aloud and a not so happy ending.

by cj592 @ 2006-10-01 - 10:37:07

I have to talk about last night's TV. (Why? because thats what I do)

Firstly X-Factor. IT was the boot camp and the groups were cut down to eight in each category. I'm not sure I can spot a winner in any of the groups. Although I was surprised that Simon let the guy with the big hair through. And there is that really young nervous kid, who looks about 12. Simon is obviously going for the 'Gareth Gates' sympathy vote there! The groups aren't looking great, but I am glad Louis ot rid of that pair of brothers who were SOOO arrogant that they thought they could get through without rehearsing. But if I was to put money on a finalist, it would be the young lady in the wheelchair, She has a great voice.

Then there was Ant and Dec. Now there show is good but the think I want to talk about is Girls Aloud. Did anyone see them sing mime? Didn't the ginger one look thin? My OH and I were watching and we realised that we couldn't name a single one of them. WE know that there is a Cheryl Tweedy/Cole in there somewhere but we wouldnt be able to pick her out from a police line up after a club brawl! Oh well, it kind o goes to show something that the only one we have heard of is because she married a footballer.

And the most surprising show was, once again, afterlife. Brilliant show, but what a depressing ending. Actualy I thought the ending was very good and powerful; showing the inevitability of powers beyond our control. After all, if every show had a cheesy happy ending it may as well be set in America and star Jennifer Love Hewitt!

But what am I goning to do next week, Cos I think thats when Robin Hood starts. Luckily I have sorted out my new DVD recorder.
