Last night when I was on the toilet reading my magazine (Now don't tell me you don't do it, we all do it) I read an article. It was reflecting over the last series of Doctor Who and it described one of the episodes, the one with Peter kay as the Absorbing monster, as the 'Marmite' Episode- you either love it or you hate it.
And it got me thinking, how clever of Marmite to introduce the advertising slogan 'you either love it or you hate it' because it is becoming more used in everyday life. Even Bryan, our great reviewer, described the film 'Hard Candy' as a 'Marmite' film. And now when poeple want to describe something as 'you either love it or hate it' they can use the term Marmite- talk about free advertising.
I have to admit when I read the macazine article I thought 'Hmm, i just fancy some marmite on toast', but it was 11:30 at night and we had just changed the bed linen.
Talking of changing the bed linen. My OH is always very impressed with my techniques. Use the old 'inside out Duvet cover routine' and it's done in a jiffy. I think I learnt that technique from Blue Peter once. Or it might have been the Generation game.
There was a thunderstorm last night, with flashes of lightnin'. This morning, we were discussing lightning and we confused ourselves- which isn't difficult. We have always been told that if you get struck by lightning, the you are safe if you are wearing Wellies. When I asked my OH why this was, she said "It's because you are Earthed to the ground"
"So they say, but what does that actually mean" I asked
Her reply "WEll I think its because if you get hit by lightning, the electricity passes straight through you and into the ground"
"So the rubber conducts the electricity into the ground."
"Yes. No. Yes."
"So rubber is a good conducter of electricity. If thats so, why aren't more wires made of rubber?"
And then we got too confused and our brains exploded..... damn! and we had just changed the bed linen!
Welcome to my wierd blog. It's Marmite!
