I have just finished playing the PS2 RPG game 'The Bard's Tale'- and I tell you something, it really was quite funny!
You play the bard, a sex-crazed, beer swilling sarcastic character who is being led by his dick! The only reason he wants to rescue the princess is to satisfy his lust- which she knows and uses to egg him on! She informs you that you are the 'Chosen one', which obviously she has told many men before as you keep coming across their dead bodies on your travels. You are aided in your travels by an assortment of magical creatures that you can summon using your instruments (You get more summons throughout the game). You can also have the company of a little dog, should you wish to. The dog is brilliant until 2/3 of the way in and then some evil Bird creature kills it. (But don't worry there is a way to bring it back from the dead further on- I ended up having a little ghost dog as a pet... ahhh cute)
What this game does well is take the piss out of the genre! The bard is not afraid to ask the age old questions like- when the Boss appears to him on the first level of a tower why doesn't he fight him there? Why does he have to fight his way to the top level of the tower to fight him!
The comedy is more prevalant in the early parts of the game, like in the village of the Bodhs. And it's a musical too! There are a few good tunes coming your way, with some very good lyrics- mostly about how stupid the Chosen One is! The ones that are most catchy (and I was humming for ages) was every time you come across one of the 'Chosen' a group of Trow (Orc-like creatures) pop up and sing another verse of 'It's Bad luck to be you'- (similar to the oompa Loompas in the original Wonka film!)
Another good thing is the sarcastic interplay between the Narrater and the bard, who clearly do not get on, and the way you can use sarcasm when talking to NPC's in the game (Which often leads to gaining more songs)
On the whole, a bog standard RPG game, but the use of humour makes it well worth a play. Oh and so does the dog!
