CJ- email demon and barbecue king

by cj592 @ 2006-07-12 - 21:58:24

ITs Wedensday evening.
I went into work today and managed to get very little tidying up done. We spent most of the day in a meeting then emailing everyone details, then finding out that some of the information was misleading and then had to re- email everyone again.
When I got home it was about 3pm. My OH has had a day off today so we decided to spend the rest of the afternoon outside baking in the sunshine. We even had a game of trivial pursuit (90's edition). It was a close game. I was losing to begin with (being 3-1 down cheese-wise) then took the lead at 6-4 only to have my OH overtake me and manage to get to the middle before me. I have decided that is is mostly about luck as to whether you get to the centre at the end.
Then we had a Barbecue again. and a bit of dance in the garden. Such a pleasant evening. Pimms again.
And now we're back in and I am quite tired now. It's been a funny old day.

More Twisty than a Curly Wurly.

I said earlier that I was going in for a meeting today, as part of the consultation process. Well that meeting didn’t happen. This thing is Drrrrraaaaaaaaaaggggggggiiiiiiing on.
But that's not the only news....
And this really takes the biscuit. in fact it really takes the last biscuit on Cartlionels table.
Do you remember back in April when I first mentioned the merger? do you? (If not why haven’t you been keeping up) and I said that we were all in the pot for jobs so there was only a small chance of redundancy. And then the merger fell through (cough) and we were told that the school was in fact closing so we were going to be made redundant because there were no jobs available in September. And we were all recommended to find jobs for September (to save the organisation money in the long run) but we weren't allowed to hand in a resignation without getting the official letter of redundancy as that would jeopardise the payout. So, lots of people have got jobs and waiting for the letters to officially resign due to the fact that there was no jobs at all in September. Do you remember all that? Good, because what is coming next is a doozy!

In our private earlier today with the Bursar we had found some additional, hot off the press information: That there is a buyer interested in the property (Good news). However they may want to run a school on the site and therefore will need to be staffed. Because of the rules of a take-over are similar to a merger, there are now possibilities of jobs for September. Which means we go back to all being in the pot for jobs. So we could all be back where we started, with the added misfortune that half of us have now agreed jobs for September in other places. But the governors may not issue redundancy notices seeing as the positions may not be being made redundant. And we won't know for a while to come whether the new people want the school running or not. So we are back to waiting and worrying about redundancy letters and breaking contracts with other people.

Kids on Crack, Talking Animals and a bit of Boat Rocking

by cj592 @ 2006-07-12 - 08:53:52

I am sure that Frosties have coated there flakes of corn with crack cocaine.
Evidence: Have you seen that annoying new advert? "It's gonna taste great." That kid looks so high that hs could float away... no wait he does right at the end of the advert.
I'm not saying that he's hallucinating, but did anyone else see the cartoon tiger that can talk?
The best thing about the ad... there a man in a bowler hat!

Talking of Talking animals. My OH and I watched Shrek 2 again- it was on sky movies. I forgot just how good it was. Did Jennifer saunders relly sing that at the end?

I have to go in to work today at some point. We have another consultation meeting. Content: them telling us again how they will screw us.

PS. For all of those who thought we should rock the boat a little bit, we did. my OH is not getting a pay rise as such, but will get regular little bonuses- so thats a start!

Edit. This is post 888. So Ceefax subtitles are now available
