Pac-Mad

by cj592 @ 2005-12-31 - 16:22:46

Film news:
Turning games into films has always been a risky business. Although I thoroughly enjoyed Resident evil and Tomb Raider, they weren't box office hits. And we won't even mention Mario Bros (Not Bob Hoskins finest hour). But at least they were all human characters

And then I see the news that Pac-Man is being made into a film.

Thats Right

Pac-Man.

can you imagine the auditions?
Who will they get to play the lead? Someone large, orangey-yellow and with a big mouth.... hang on... can someone get me Jesse Wallace's agent?

Hitler's Camp and Spirited Spirits

by cj592 @ 2005-12-31 - 13:08:36

The Producers
Plot: Broadway Producer (Nathan Lane) is down on his luck until an encounter with accountant and wannabe producer Leo Bloom (Matthew Broderick) gives him the idea that the best way to make $2million is to produce a Broadway flop. Together they work to find the worst script, worst director and actors to make their dreams come true.
My Thoughts: This is a funny and outrageously camp film. Will Ferrell, who plays writer Franz Liebkind was hysterical as the German Nazi nut. There were some string performances from most of the cast, including a surprise stage appearance from John Barrowman. However at times I thought that Matthew Broderick looked uncomfortable in the role as Bloom, although the routine in the accounting office was stunning. The worst part in the film for me was Uma Therman, who played Swedish Ulla. Somehow her playing that character didn’t work for me. Perhaps Nicole Kidman 9Who was originally offered the part) would have been better- or maybe even Helga from Allo Allo. But there was some great music, and some fantastic visual comedy (Except the pigeons were quite cheesy)- and the largest amount of Zimmer frames I have ever seen.
Best bits: Will Ferrell’s German Dance routines
Score: 8/10

Just Like Heaven
Plot: A lonely architect (Ruffalo) falls for the spirit of beautiful woman (Witherspoon) who used to live in his new apartment.
My Thoughts: For me this film had everything I want. It is a well-written romantic comedy with a supernatural theme (Think Ghost meets Bridget Jones). Reese Witherspoon continues to shine on screen and is perfect for the part. Mark Rufallo is going to be one of those actors that will pop up in everything over the next year, but he does a pretty good job as the lonely architect. There is enough comedy in it to keep you entertained but also you empathise with the characters. And yes- I was moved by the ending.
Best Bit: The Body Snatch scenes at the end. Oh, and I know they were only in it for a moment but, the Ghostbusters made me laugh out loud.
Score: 9/10

Three new Years' Eves and Wilde Speculation

by cj592 @ 2005-12-30 - 21:45:11

New years Eve Eve.
And I have already sat through three Big Ben chimes tonight. Obviously there must be different timezones because in Yorrkshire, midnight happened at about 7:25pm then in Manchester it happened about 7:55pm and in the East end of London it happened about 8:25pm. The strike of Midnight does appear to be travelling southwards so I am expecting it to hit Hastings at about 8:47pm.

So Happy New year!

God I talk a lot of rubbish. WE both do here. For example here is a snippet of conversation that I had with my OH earlier this evening on seeing a picture of Kim Wilde

OH: wasn't Kim Wilde a Singer?
Me: Wasn't she Blondie
OH: Wasn't that Debbie Harry?
Me: Oh yes.
OH: Kim Wilde had a famous dad
Me: Oscar Wilde?
OH: No, Marty Wilde I think
Me: Marty Wilde wasn't a bloke
OH: Yes he was
Me: Oh! I'm thinking of Marti Caine

Rules of Soap

by cj592 @ 2005-12-30 - 11:23:22

Rules of Soapland

1) Whenever a couple says "We are going to be happy for the rest of our lives" it means one of them will be killed off.
2) Whenever someone mentions a relative they have never seen, they will soon appear on the show
3) If a character coughs, then sixths months later they will be killed off.
4) Christmas is never happy
5) People in the east end never own a washing machine.
6) No one ever buys lager from an off-licence or drink at home.
7) All wakes and receptions are held in pubs
8) No-one owns a car, everyone can afford cabs.
9) In the East End, events only ever take place on a Thursday or Friday and never on Saturday. And these events are always held in the community centre
10) When an actor leaves a soap, it is law that they must be in the next series of Where the Heart Is

Electric Blue

by cj592 @ 2005-12-29 - 18:08:56

What I am listening to at the moment

Electric Blue by Andy Bell. Great new album with some upbeat tunes.

The Rest Of Our Lives

Falling down in tears of sorrow
On your window frame
Close your eyes until tomorrow
Sheltered from the rain
Don't you worry your mind about it
Poor little thing

I'm not about to let you go
Just your feelings running wild
Away in your dreams

It's the bin! It has to be the bin!

by cj592 @ 2005-12-29 - 17:36:36

Does anyone else remember 321?
Ted Rogers hosts a show where lame variety acts leave clues that could relate to a number of prizes or the dreaded booby prize- Dusty Bin. And the gormless contestants had to decipher the clues that on the most part were so cryptic that not even Poirot could solve them

Example: You chose to get rid of the black bag. Let’s remind ourselves of the clue
“When ya use this item for trash collection
For sure men will come for possession.”

OK, so an item for trash collection. What could that be? The bin perhaps? And men come for possession. Could that be bin men? But what other things can men come to possess? or re-possess? A car? A house? But what about the trash from the first line? If we take the YA and place it in the middle of Trash, we get Tray Ash or Ash Tray. But what has an ash tray? And look at the second line ‘For’ and ‘Will’ or should that be ‘Four’ and ‘Wheel’. Yes, you’ve got rid of the car!

Eh ???????????

Rude Awakenings and Great Cliffhangers

by cj592 @ 2005-12-29 - 13:52:20

Thursday morning and a rude awakening. Well for me it was because the phone rang when I was asleep at 10am.
As we rent (Which is a great telesales conversation stopper- I don't say "hello" when I pick up the phone I say "We rent-what do you want?"), the landlady had asked us if it was alright for the property to be valued today by an estate agent at 12pm. Thats fine, plenty of time for me to have a lay in and get ready. At 10am the phone rang, "The estate agent is here". Apparently the landlady got muddled with the time.
Oh well I am sure you are all sympathetic with my plight ;)
We did have a bit of a late night last night though. We decided to hang it all and watch the final two episodes of LOST, which we had bought from America. And WOWOWOWOWOW!!! They can't end it there! I need to know what happens next. Great cliffhanger. (And is that Ambassador Delenn I can see in the jungle?)
Also a great result for Liverpool winning against Everton and Manchester United only getting a draw. Crouch is coming on well, isn't he.
Now, shallI go and see the Producers today? There hasn't been much snowfall since Tuesday, but the roads are still icy. And the sky has that grey "I'm gonna snow, so there" look about it.

Duck'n' Sprouts

by cj592 @ 2005-12-28 - 15:15:12

Christmas Dinner.
I don't think I know anyone who has a 'traditional' turkey for christmas dinner. Most of my family have Roast Lamb for dinner at Christmas. I think the closest was one year my sister having Goose. This year we were supposed to have lamb (Real sussex lamb- donated as a gift from a farmer friend)- unfortunately it didnt defrost in time. So this Christmas day we had Roast Duck (The closest we will get to turkey) and had the lamb on boxing day.

But we do have sprouts! We LURVE sprouts- the vegetable you can enjoy twice :)

I must have been a good boy

by cj592 @ 2005-12-28 - 12:07:29

Santa has been good to me.
I got the Doctor Who box set and a remote control Dalek. And a PSP sound system.
Also some DVDs and PS2 games- including singstar the eightees.
Plus the annual smellies and chocolates, but for the first time there were no pants or socks. Which is bizarre because I actually need them. I'm noe gonna have to go out and buy them!

Nice!

Snow way we're moving

by cj592 @ 2005-12-27 - 18:10:37

Snow and Ice are covering the roads. We were supposed to travel a long distance today but the roads were iced over, We tried to move but skidded all over the place, That and the heavy fall this morning made it difficult to travel.
So unfortunately we were stranded indoors.

Own Goal given to Given

by cj592 @ 2005-12-26 - 18:57:24

Liverpool versus Newcastle today and a great results. (Not for Michael Owen though, who may have been too confused as to which side he was on)
Great goal from Stevie G but according to the BBC site the second goal which came from Crouch, was given to Given as an own Goal. Poor Crouchie, they are determined to deny him goals???????

The Finale of Ant and Dec's Christmas Take Away, with Robbie Williams singing White Christmas backed by the most enthusiastic male voice choir.

Excellent treat- reminded me of Des O Connor and Morecombe and Wise

Christmas Films

by cj592 @ 2005-12-24 - 12:06:42

My top five Christmas(like) films

1) Scrooge- the musical one where they son "Thank you very much"
2) A muppet Christmas Carol
3) The Wizard of Oz. So very Christmas
4) Raiders of the Lost Ark
5) Jingle all the way

I want a turbo man doll.

Thank you very much! Thank you very much!
That's the nicest thing that anyone's ever
done for me!
It sounds a bit bizarre
But things the way they are
I feel as if another life's begun for me
And if I had a cannon I would fire it
To add a sort of celebration touch
But since I left me cannon at home
I simply have to say
Thank you very very very much!
Thank you very very very much!

Watching Woss

by cj592 @ 2005-12-24 - 11:16:03

I watched the Jonathon Ross show last night- which is not something I'd normally do but David Tennant was on it- and I did enjoy it.
It's good to see that David Tennant is planning to do more than one series of Doctor Who. It was funny watching JR trying to tie him down to an answer. He Said "We're scared you'll do one series then bugger off". Said like a real DW fanboy. And did David hint that Billie would be staying a while longer too?
Then it was Chico Time. My god he is getting a lot of publicity- well good for him I say. Might as well milk it while he can, I would. And what job hasn't he done? From Hairdresser to Electrical Engineer (Obvious career jump there) and then to a goat herder. And boy can he talk!
And then to top it all they had Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon who were promoting their new film. Still they had me in stitches. And it is good to see a couple of fella's just enjoying themselves like that- there's a friendship I'm envious of!
Unfortunatley the show was ruined by that singer at the end. I didn't catch his name- I was too busy focusing on his nose!

King Kong Lives!

by cj592 @ 2005-12-23 - 15:24:31

Flicking through the channels I have noticed another King Kong film! It is on Sci-Fi channel now.
It is King Kong Lives
Details: Having Survived his fall off the empire state building, Kong has been in a coma for ten years and needs a blood transfusion for an artificial heart. Starring Linda Hamilton

It's like King Kong meets Casualty. And they have just shown the heart. It's HUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE! Good luck getting a transplant on the NHS!

Linda Hamilton- the name sounded familiar so I googled her. She was in Terminator. I wonder how she feels about acting with the huge hairy Gorilla. But enought about Schwarzenneger.....

Burnout: Trolleys Revenge

by cj592 @ 2005-12-23 - 13:42:00

Its Christmas Eve Eve.
I have been to town and replaced a christmas present. The book that my OH decided to buy.
I also got my new glasses. I tried them on in the shop but I also had my lenses in, so I couldn't see a thing. The shop lady said they looked good then handed me a mirror to check for myself! She looked a bit silly when the penny dropped.
I also bought a Turkey and Stuffing pastie for my lunch. I went in to Morrisons and it was hectic in there. You can halrdly move for trolleys. Moving around was like some kind of logic problem. Perhaps Playstation should release a new Burnout Game. Burnout: Trolleys Revenge

Anyway I have to finish watching The Cannon and Ball movie; The Boys in Blue

PS: It was 'The Shite History of everything' by A Parody

Relief, Confusion and Liberty

by cj592 @ 2005-12-21 - 20:19:41

My OH is relieved today as she had ordered some presents ove rthe internet weeks ago and they hadn't arrived, but today they came. I am relieved too, because they were for me- now I have something to open on Christmas day.

Am I also pleased because today I have finished the story mode of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories on the PSP. However, when I check my percentage score of the game I have only completed 47% of it. Looks like I am gonna have to hunt around to find more things to do in it. Cool Elvis costume though, Mr Benn would be pleased!

It is Wednesday and Nizlopi JCB song is number 1. I'm confused. Why isn't this Christmas number 1? I know Christmas day is sunday, and there is a chart on Sunday, but i thought the christmas song is the one at the top of the charts when you wake up on Christmas morning. Or have they changed the rules for Santa Cowell's Sake?

Head and Shoulders, Sneeze and Toes

by cj592 @ 2005-12-20 - 20:23:35

What I have done today:
I finished my Christmas Shopping. If anyone now wants something else, they're not gonna get it

Got my hair cut. Well shaved really. I love it short, I think it's because I am too lazy to bother with doing anything else with it, like wash it- Saves on Head and Shoulders. There were a couple of ten year olds in the barbers getting designs carved into the side of their heads- I bet that is expensive

Finished Wrapping the presents and placed them under the tree. Now it looks like we have friends that care about us

Sneezed. Lots. I hate sneezing. Why is it that when you feel a sneeze coming on, all you have to do is look at a bright light and it brings the sneeze on?

I am now gonna put my feet up, and warm my tootsies by the fire.

Do you remember when...

by cj592 @ 2005-12-20 - 14:01:04

It's my turn: ;)

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, (even if we don't speak often) please post a comment with a COMPLETELY MADE UP AND FICTIONAL memory of you and I.

It can be anything you want- BUT IT HAS TO BE FAKE.

When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and pretend to be surprised (or mortified) about what people DON'T ACTUALLY remember about you.

Comings and Goings

by cj592 @ 2005-12-19 - 15:22:45

Comings: My cold appears to be coming back again. I don't think it actually went away. Every time it appears to be clearing up it comes back with a vengeance.

Goings: Is it my imagination or has Scoffle's Blog gone. Does anyone know where?
EDIT: And BrokenFairy has gone too (Thanks Isadora for noticing)

Kong Krazy

by cj592 @ 2005-12-19 - 14:14:02

On BBC2 at the moment: Son of Kong. A 1933 film that is the sequel to King Kong. And straight after that is King Kong: The original 1933 film. Now why didnt they put those two films on the other way round?

And guess whats on tomorrow, Channel 4. King Kong, the 1976 Jeff Bridges version.

The TV schedule has gone Kong Krazy. Now I am waiting for the following:

1) An Audience with King Kong: Kong gets to perform in front of Z-list celebrities
2) Sing-a-long-a-Kong: Shane Ritchie and the cast of Eastenders perform Christmas Kong hits
3) Celebrity Kong on their Eyes: Actors from Corrie and washed up ex pop stars dress up as Kong
4) Most Haunted Kong Special: Derek Acorah gets possessed by the spirit of Kong, kidnaps Yvette and climbs Blackpool tower with her, whilst in the studio members of the public fax in photos of their relatives saying that it is psychic art

Merry Kongmas everyone
